Condolence: I was a student at St. Agnes School, and a member of St. Agnes Parish in Brooklyn as a child. It was a rough area and church was our safe space. Fr. Frank as we called him was very kind and always had work for us to do, which kept us out of situations that might get us in trouble or endanger us. He was very lovely and genuinely cared about us. I am very sorry to hear that he passed. One of the things I did as a child at St. Agnes was serve the altar and I loved to serve at weddings. Fr. Joe said to couples getting married that love was not a feeling. It was a conscious everyday choice and a conscious everyday action and it was also an expression of faith, to love one another and to love our spouse. Because God is Love, when we choose to love and we act in love, we choose God and we choose to walk in the path of Jesus Christ. I have never ever ever forgotten that instruction and it has made me a better person and helped me through so many struggles I cannot even count them. I am very sorry for the family's loss, as I am sure he is missed. HOwever death is part of life, no one lives forever and we were very blessed for the time we had with Fr. Joe and I am sure he helped many many people. The victory is how he lived and who he helped and now comes the reward. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. May the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace and may god forgive us all our sins and lead all souls to the light of his eternal and loving embrace. IN Jesus name, Amen.
