Obituary for Elizabeth Bendyk

Elizabeth  Bendyk
Elizabeth Bendyk passed away at the age of 97 on August 31st, 2017 in Stafford VA, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Elizabeth was born on April 26, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. As a small child, Elizabeth and her family moved to Poland. She was a Holocust survivor, returning to the United States in 1947, moving to New York, where she was a resident of Maspeth until moving to Stafford, Va, in 2013. Elizabeth is one of thirteen children, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Kazimierz Bendyk, her parents Stanislaw and Victoria Bartomiejczak and 11 of her siblings.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Helen Bendyk, Jadwiga Ciolko (Janek), John Bendyk (Gina), Theresa Hook (Drew),Eugene Bendyk, her sister Maria Nalaskowski, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 Great great grandchildren.
Elizabeth was retired from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, a active member of Holy Cross Parish and the Polish Community in Maspeth, NY. She loved to knit and in her later years she knitted hundreds of hats and scarves that were donated to people and children in need.
Visitation will be on September 8th, 2017, at Megiel Funeral Home, 6418
Flushing Ave, Maspeth NY 11378. Family and Friends may visit between 2pm-4pm, 7pm-9pm. Funeral mass will be held on September 9th,2017, at 9:00 am, Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 6121 56th Road,
Maspeth NY 11378. Internment following the church service will be held at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, 654 Ferry Road, Doylestown, PA 18901.
In lieu of flowers the family of Elizabeth request donations be made in her name to St Jude’s Children's Hospital or Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
