Life Story for Salvatore Balestrieri

Salvatore  Balestrieri
Salvatore Balestrieri was born on January 24, 1935 to Vincenzo & Rosa Balestrieri in Vittoria, Sicily. He married Elvira “Lucia” Palma on September 5, 1959 in their hometown. He came to America in 1966 to pursue the American Dream. He soon became an apprentice for Local 580, the Iron Workers Union and was a proud member & General Foreman until his retirement at age 62. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Lucia, his daughters Rosanne Villar Pruneddu & Ines Montalti, son-in-law Anthony Montalti, & his four grandchildren Marco, Luca, Victoria & Sofia. He loved being surrounded by his family & was extremely proud of each & every one of them. He spent his summers with his wife in their summer home in Scoglitti, Sicily where he enjoyed the beach, eating his favorite foods & spending time with cousins & in laws, playing cards & watching soccer games. He was a member of Figli Di Ragusa Society & The Juventus Club. He bought his 1st home in 1971 on 27th Avenue and has proudly raised his family there for 47 years. He will be missed by many family members, friends and neighbors. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, great style & gentle heart.
