Obituary for Joseph Izzo

Joseph Izzo
Joseph Izzo Sr., 55, of Brooklyn, New York passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 after
suddenly going into cardiac arrest.

Joseph (Joey) was born to Michael and Ann Izzo (née DeJesus) on June 11, 1964, in Brooklyn,
New York. Joey had a childhood filled with summers by the beach, hard work, and lots of
laughter. Never alone, he was deeply loved by his eleven siblings, Michael, Thomas, Frances
Ann, Richard, Robert, James, John, Steven, Lorraine, Michelle, and Frank Izzo. He attended
Abraham Lincoln High School. Joey later joined the I.B.E.W. Local 3, where he persevered in
his field and united in the brotherhood of man. He continued his education at Empire State
College to further his degree as an electrician.

In 1987, Joey met Elizabeth (Liz) Robbins, the love of his life. Completely enamored with each
other, they were married on November 11, 1989, in Brooklyn, New York. The love they shared
was insurmountable. Everyone knew Joey and Liz. They had four beautiful children together,
AnnMarie, Joseph Jr., Angela, and ToniAnn Izzo. They always put their children first. For Joey’s
children, the sky was the limit and he could not resist doing whatever it took to make them
happy. He loved his children with all his heart, and instilled his love of books, music, film,
comedy, family values, and most importantly his wisdom in them.

Joey’s stories would make an entire room of people stop and pay attention. He had a contagious
laugh and a smile that no one could resist. Afraid of no crowd, he was well known at many
karaoke and comedy clubs around New York City. No party will be the same without him. An
exquisite dancer, Joey danced as if no one was watching. In the kitchen, Joey was a true chef and
his dishes were unmatchable. He had a green thumb and never went long without planting
something new in his garden, teaching his children the importance of Mother Nature and all her
glory. A genuine old soul, he followed in his father’s footsteps in flying pigeons for a large
portion of his life. He was a man more patriotic than most, who believed in America and every
dream along with it. Truthfully, there are no words that can adequately describe a man so
substantial. The sun will never shine as brightly, the moon will never be as full, and the waves
will never be as beautiful. We will find you in the summer wind...

Joey is survived by his wife, Liz, and children, AnnMarie, Joseph Jr., Angela, and ToniAnn, as
well as siblings Richard, James, John, Steven, Lorraine, Michelle, and Frank. In his passing, Joey
joins his late mother and father, as well as siblings Michael, Thomas, Frances Ann, and Robert.

A celebration of Joey’s life will be held at a later date when a gathering is permitted.
