Obituary for Eleanor Ann Bucich

Eleanor Ann Bucich
Eleanor was born in 1939 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the third of Frank and Anna’s seven children. As the oldest daughter in the large family, Eleanor was given much responsibility at an early age and learned to think and act independently.
Eleanor received her sacraments at Church of the Most Precious Blood, attended public schools, had many friends and loved to dance. After graduating from Lafayette High School, Eleanor enrolled in a technical school to learn various data applications. At the time, this was an unusual choice for women and showed Eleanor’s independent spirit. Upon completing the course, Eleanor worked in New York City for several years.
Eleanor then embarked on a great adventure – she moved to California with a life-long friend. The two friends created brand new lives for themselves in the Golden State and worked hard, always taking care to maintain their friendship.
After two decades in California, Eleanor moved back to Brooklyn when her mother died to be closer to her family. Eleanor loved Brooklyn and being part of her neighborhood. She knew most of the people on her block. Eleanor loved her nieces and nephews and was the cool California Aunt. When K-Mart opened close by, Eleanor delayed retirement to work in retail.
After retiring, Eleanor remained in her home in Brooklyn, often preferring to spend quiet time to herself and choosing to maintain her independence until her passing.
Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, Anna and Frank, and her siblings, Karen, Kathryn and Frank, Jr. She is survived by her siblings, Joseph, Robert (Rose) and Marilyn (Tom), loving nieces, nephews and her life-long friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 24 at 10:45 AM at the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Brooklyn. Private interment services will follow the Mass.
