Life Story for
Carmela Shepard
Carmela “Millie” Shepard
6/23/24 - 12/16/18
Carmela “Millie” Shepard, 94, passed away Sunday December 16, 2018 peacefully at home.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where she lived until she retired from being a para-professional at P.S. 101 in Bensonhurst. Upon retiring, she moved to Howell, NJ where she lived out the rest of her days.
A selfless woman of many talents, Carmela was a lover of cooking (100% Italian descent meant she was a chef by nature!), art with a focus on drawing, music (especially Elvis!), the Yankees, movies, reading, traveling, and spending every possible second with her great grandchildren. She taught her family strength, love, importance of our Catholic religion as well as donating to those in need or community service and shared her knowledge and kindness with all.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband William “Bill” Shepard, her parents Concetta and Carmelo Puma, her sister Jean (Larry) Rizzo, and her daughter in law Patricia Shepard.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah (John) Kane, her son John Shepard, her granddaughters Christina Kane, Stephanie (Miles) Brueckner, and her entire heart, soul, and the lights of her life that she called her “reasons to wake each day”, her great grandchildren Thomas, Aidan, Liam and Evelyn.
Carmela was loved by anyone she met and will be missed more than words. We know she is now one of the angels she prayed to while on Earth.
